"Good morning, radio land. You're listening to Radio Mihu, and this is Bayas. Today we're going to talk about pears, persimmons, and some gossip about mudflows ..." Sharply and jokingly, Bayas tells the story of the reconstruction after the Sept. 21, 1999 earthquake in the Mihu tribal region. The word "mihu" means “to make up for each other’s deficiencies and create a new homeland.” But due to limited resources and rival visions of the future, not all the tribe’s people participate in the reconstruction. Radio Mihu explores these community divisions and the threat they pose to the future of the Mihu people.
